Nomination: 

Moving from northcentral Wisconsin to Sheboygan in spring 2020 to start a new job when you don’t know anyone in the area would have been challenging for anyone. Add to that the need to buy a home for your family, including your husband and two children under the age of 2, and you’ve got Kolina Painter – Lakeshore Technical College’s driven and dedicated Executive Director of Marketing. Before joining us, Kolina knew she wanted to move somewhere offering a more family-friendly, vibrant environment with good schools, high quality employers, and plenty of cultural and recreational activities. When she learned about the job at our college, located near a community offering all she was looking for, she jumped at it.

It was an extremely challenging time to be in a new community, though Kolina did all she could to begin safely getting to know our students, staff, business partners, and community members. She signed on as soon as she could to participate in Leadership Sheboygan County. It was Kolina’s vision to elevate awareness of our disc golf course and campus by hosting our first disc golf tournament in 2021; it was a success, grew significantly its second year, and we’re excited to host our third annual tournament June 24 (2023). Working with her team over the last three years, she has generated more positive media coverage for our college than we’ve ever received. Kolina enthusiastically carries out the mission of our college for the benefit of the community, and we are grateful she chose to work with us and raise her family here.
